Game Design in myStudium*
Whether creative games for computer and console or rather analog board and card games: In the myStudium Game Design you will deal intensively with innovative methods of game development. You will gain the know-how to practically design interactive media and games in software development, game art, media technology and game design craft. In this way, you will theoretically and practically succeed in your professional entry into the segment of game development, gamification and serious games. Knowledge in the areas of marketing, data analytics and IT project management round out your profile as a game designer.
Subject to approval by the Thuringian Ministry of Economy, Science and Digital Society. We expect the approval by the Ministry at the latest at the start of the study. So far, we have always received it on time.

Degree: B.A., 180 ECTS credits Study
Duration: 6 Semesters
Admission: A-levels (Technical Diploma), Subject-specific higher education entrance qualification or possible without A-levels. Please find further information under Admission.
Study Model & Examinations
Self-study with learning materials and learning AI. Subsequent consolidation through regular accompanying events on campus or virtually. Exams can be taken on your campus or flexibly online.
Courses
2-3 days per week in the attendance phase. Practical work with your fellow students under the guidance of experienced lecturers. Days and times vary depending on location/semester.

This is what awaits you in your study programme Game Design
Video games – once part of the subculture – are now considered the modern "spearhead" of digitalisation. The gaming market is booming and you can help to shape the new gaming trends! During your studies, you will deal with exciting fields of application – from artificial intelligence to world design. In the process, you will acquire key expertise in the creative principles of game development. This includes psychological basics, storytelling as well as methods of idea generation and know-how about the course of creative processes. In addition, you will be trained in the conception of game content and rule systems. Later you can choose between three elective modules with which you can further specialise.
The bachelor's programme in Game Design has a modular structure. This means that you study the different subject areas in so-called "modules", whereby you earn ECTS points (European Credit Transfer System) for the completion of each module. These ECTS are recognised internationally.
