Since you will be dealing a lot with language in this degree programme, fluency in German is essential, and you should also be confident in spelling and grammar. The profession requires a lot of communication with a wide variety of people - including crisis communication - so the ability to deal with people and the ability to deal with conflict are also advantageous.

To work as a journalist, you need a sound journalistic education and usually a traineeship at a newspaper, television or other media institution. So if you have the goal of working in journalism, you are much better suited to a journalism degree programme. In the dual degree programme in Communication & PR, you learn the basics of communication and public relations and can then go into contact with journalists, for example, as a press spokesperson or PR editor of an organisation or a company.

PR stands for "public relations" and, to put it simply, involves communication between companies, organisations, associations or politics and the public. Although the aim is to present one's own product or measures in a positive light and to draw attention to them, the methods are very different from marketing. In PR, for example, you work with journalists, bloggers and influencers, organise press conferences and press events or place individual topics in newspapers, radio programmes or TV reports. 

The dual degree programme in Communication & PR also contains communication science content but is very much oriented towards practical PR work. A degree in Communication Studies is more concerned with the scientific aspects of communication and analyses different forms of communication and media formats.

In the dual study programme model, attendance is compulsory for lectures and seminars. This is recorded via corresponding attendance lists. However, attendance is not compulsory in the dual myStudium programme model.

Außerdem erhöhen sich Deine ECTS-Punkte von 180 auf 210, was die Wahl eines anschließenden Masterstudiengangs vereinfacht.
