Are you interested in humanity, social justice and the idea of creating equal opportunities for all? Then the dual study program in social work may be just right for you. The dual Bachelor's degree course in Social Work combines academic study with practical experience and prepares you for work in the social sector. During your studies, you will gain an insight into topics such as social pedagogy, social law and social economy. In addition, courses in psychology, ethics and law offer valuable perspectives that will equip you for a variety of challenges in social professions. A dual study program in social work enables you to make your contribution to a better and fairer society.
With your degree, you will receive the professional title of "state-recognized social worker and social pedagogue", which is an important recruitment requirement for many social institutions.
Depending on where you study, you will study in one of our two study models: dual study or dual myStudium.

State-recognised social worker or social pedagogue
System Accredited. IU is state-recognized and system-accredited by FIBAA. All degree programs are individually accredited and thus bear the seal of the Accreditation Council.
* Subject to state recognition of the degree programmes and approval of the Chemnitz branch by the Free State of Saxony. We expect the approvals of the ministries at the latest at the start of the studies. To date, all IU International University programmes have been successfully accredited and approved on time.

Content of the dual study program Soziale Arbeit
How do you mediate between feuding family members? What are the requirements for granting asylum? The dual study program in social work is dedicated to precisely these questions. It is based on a sound scientific foundation and is particularly method-oriented. In the course of your studies, you will deal with the goals, concepts and structures of social work, delve deep into the associated sciences and learn how to provide practical help - always case-related, true-to-life and resource-oriented. You will acquire an age-appropriate approach and develop intercultural skills in order to be able to effectively support people from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures.

Dual Study Soziale Arbeit: Your Career Prospects
IN THE FIELD OF CHILDHOOD PEDAGOGY
The tasks in the field of childhood pedagogy are very diverse and varied. You will coordinate, promote and support children wherever they are cared for in institutions during the day. The traditional places of employment are similar to those of educators, for example, crèches, (integration) day-care centres, curative education facilities, after-school care centres, all-day schools, and family centres.
IN THE SCHOOL SECTOR
In the school sector, the focus is on the individual, social and academic development of children and young people. You contribute to reducing educational disadvantages and opening up educational opportunities within the school environment. You do this, for example, by accompanying and supporting children and young people, advising parents and guardians and supporting teachers on socio-educational issues. Typical fields of work are school social work, school support or all-day education.
IN THE FIELD OF SOCIAL WORK WITH ADULTS
Specialising in social services for adults opens up a very broad field of work for you. For example, in the psychiatric social service, you support people with addictions or mental illnesses and their relatives. But you also have numerous opportunities to work with the disabled and senior citizens, for example, in homes, assisted living facilities, workshops, outpatient services or in integration assistance.
