With the Bachelor's distance learning programme in “Tourismusmanagement”, you open up unlimited possibilities – here, you weave together a foundation in business administration with cutting-edge tourism knowledge, opening up an international career for yourself.

How your studies get you ahead:  

• You will delve into the world of digitalisation and AI – essential skills in an era where travel tech like VR, AR, and algorithms are revolutionising the industry.  

• You will develop an intuition for market trends and market research to anticipate customer needs and unfold innovative marketing strategies.  

• Your degree not only qualifies you as a tourism manager but also opens pathways into areas such as travel technology, event management, and market research.  

• With completed vocational training as "Tourismuskaufmann:frau" (Travel Agent), you benefit both time-wise and financially during your studies: You save at least 50 ECTS credits. 

These days, the demands and expectations of holiday and leisure offerings are constantly evolving – well-founded analyses and creative concepts are needed. Our bachelor's programme “Tourismusmanagement” prepares you optimally for these challenges. A unique feature of the IU programme are the new courses in the areas of tech and AI in tourism, hospitality, and event. In the area of travel technology, you practically engage with your future business in various modules – “Tech und KI in Tourismus”, “Hospitality und Event” or “Planspiel: Tourismus, Hospitality und Event” enable you to acquire the most important skills for your career path in a hands-on manner. 

Electives: In Electives A, B and C, you choose two elective modules each. Elective D: Decide at the beginning of your studies between an internship at a company or all modules from Elective D. You complete the internship with a written reflection. If you choose the modules from Elective D, all modules from this elective must be completed. Mixed forms between the internship and Elective D are not possible. 

Tourism managers professionally offer products and services along the phases of a trip – planning and preparation, travel and stay, feedback, and implications for the future. After your degree, you might work as a(n)... 

Depending on your personal or professional situation, full-time study is not always easy to manage. That is why we have also developed part-time programmes for all our degrees, which offer flexible and longer study periods. This way, you can study alongside your job or during your time off, whether at home or abroad. The content of the different models is identical. Depending on the study model, we will adjust your tuition fees accordingly. With the part-time variants, your weekly study workload is reduced.

Can't finish your degree in the allotted time? No problem! We will develop the right study model for everyone. If you realise that you need more time, you can easily switch to another study model with three months’ notice before the end of the month. These are our different study models:
