Your application for our dual studies

We deliberately do not have a numerus clausus. Instead, you will have an individual IU interview with your study advisor. You will talk about your wishes and professional goals and together you will find out in which areas your strengths lie.

Here is an overview of our admission requirements:

Studying with A-levels

As an applicant with a general university entrance qualification (Abitur) or a technical college entrance qualification (Fach-Abitur), you can be admitted directly to the dual Bachelor's programme at the IU.

Studying without A-levels

Without a (specialist) A-levels, entry is possible if you meet one of the following requirements:

• Completed vocational training of at least two years and at least three years of work experience in the learned profession.

• Master craftsman's diploma

• Successful completion of a training course to become a state-certified technician or state-certified business economist

  
  

Applicants from abroad

As a foreign applicant, you must have a higher education entrance qualification equivalent to the German qualification. When applying, you must provide proof of German language skills at level B2. In addition, you will have an individual interview with your study advisor.

Yes, the online application for the dual study programme is completely non-binding and you can complete it in just a few minutes. Simply enter your desired degree programme and your personal details and take the first step towards your dream degree programme.

You can then complete your application in the IU application portal and find a practice partner.

Yes, so that you can start a dual study programme at IU, it is important that you create an account for the IU application portal after applying online.

There you can complete your application, submit any missing documents, book your initial consultation with the student advisory and find a practice partner for your degree programme.

In the IU application portal you will find vacancies in our large network of practice partners. There you can also register your interest directly and see whether a practice partner would like to get to know you.

However, you are not on your own, but work together with your student advisory to find a suitable practice partner.

As with the application process, we are also at your side during the matching process. This means that we keep you up to date on which companies we are in contact with. You in turn give us regular updates on where you have applied.

If there is interest on your part and that of the company, we will support you by preparing interviews, coordinating appointments and actively obtaining feedback. If the interviews are successful, we will also be happy to coordinate the contract and actively help with your enrolment. If you have any questions or concerns, your personal student advisory will be happy to assist you.

You haven't found a practice partner by the start of the semester? The search for a suitable company can sometimes take a while and sometimes requires several applications. However, we are always on hand to advise you during this process and your personal student advisory will be happy to look for suitable solutions with you.

If you are unable to find a practice partner, you can switch to our myStudium programme. In this study model, you will also learn in a particularly practical way and in small groups. As you are flexible in terms of time in myStudium, you can work part-time - for example as a working student.
