In the dual study programme at the IU, the practical part is firmly integrated into your studies. You don't work "on the side", but the work is an integral part of your studies. It is important to us that you can optimally combine both sides - the theoretical courses at the IU and the practical phases in the company.

Dual Studies – tailored to fit your lifestyle!
In the dual study program at IU, you regularly alternate between theory and practice at your company. You study for one half of the week and work at your practice partner during the other half.
Depending on your degree program and study location, the theory is taught in one of our two study models:
Dual Study Program
The theory is taught in lectures two days per week.
The lectures take place in small groups, either on campus or virtually.
You can ask questions directly and discuss topics from your daily work.
Afterward, you will deepen your understanding of the presented content using the learning materials.
You will gain practical experience by working 20 hours per week at a company of your choice.
Dual myStudium
You will first learn the theory through self-study using the learning materials and our AI tutor, Syntea – completely flexible, whenever it suits you best.
In regular support sessions on campus or virtually, you can clarify questions to deepen your understanding and apply what you’ve learned to your daily work.
You will gain practical experience by working 20 hours per week at a company of your choice.
Study at the virtual campus
The virtual campus gives you the chance to study independently of location and to complete your practical training at a company near you! You learn the theory in small groups. You take part in live events and can exchange ideas with fellow students from all over Germany. Find out more about your advantages!
