ALUMNI COUNCIL

Become an Alumni Representative and take the opportunity to help shape our alumni community!

Since July 2019, the Alumni Council has been committed to strengthening communication between alumni, students and IU International University off Applied Sciences and connecting alumni of all study models and programs. Currently, it consists of nine representatives from different study models, elected for a two-year term and voted online by alumni in July 2021. The new composition of our Alumni Council with up to four members per study model is scheduled for the summer of 2023 - with the goal of further expanding networking within the alumni network of the IU International University of Applied Sciences. 


Alumni Council members will have the following key design opportunities: 

  • Further develop the concept for the Alumni Council's activities 

  • Introduce alumni topics and exchange ideas with the management of IU International University  

  • Expand their own network and establish contacts within the alumni community 

  • Actively shape regional and professional networks for mutual support and exchange 

  • Place your own ideas and suggestions for our alumni network and help shape the alumni community 



How can I become an Alumni Council member? 

Simply send an application via e-mail with a description of your motivation for your commitment in three to four sentences, a photo in landscape format (min. 0.5 MB) and a short CV to Bianca Sammer, Alumni Manager, via alumni@iu.org.de .  


Until when can I apply? 

Application deadline is June 02, 2023. 


How long will my involvement as an Alumni Council member last? 

The Alumni Representatives are elected by the alumni for a period of two years. A continuation of the commitment is of course possible! 


Which requirements play an important role in the appointment of our Alumni Council? 

  • at least 3 years of professional experience*  

  • good networking within the alumni community 

  • interest in strengthening the connection to the IU International University 

  • Ideas and motivation to strengthen the alumni community 

  • Experience in managing different stakeholders, i.e. alumni, students, faculty members, management of IU International University  

  • Entrepreneurial thinking  

  • Especially for alumni of international study programs: Internationality, Intercultural Competence 

*For alumni of the dual study program, the years with the practice partner count as professional experience 


What happens after the application? 

The online election of our Alumni Council will take place in mid-June 2023. The final members of the Alumni Council will be announced publicly at the end of July. For this purpose, the Alumni Council members will be introduced on our Alumni website with info about their study program, profession and their motivation for the commitment. The first meeting will be arranged in consultation with the Alumni Council members. The meetings take place online once or twice a year.
