Project Description
A number of environmental factors have been identified as affecting the line-of-sight (LOS) and non-line-of-sight (NLoS) radio wave propagation of wireless sensors inside industrial buildings in production facilities. These influences can lead to increased machine downtimes and thus an adverse effect on production output.
The primary objective of the Franco-German project AFMoS is the development of an adaptive radio channel model that is capable of dynamically adapting to changing environmental conditions and enabling real-time classifications. The research is centred on optimising wave propagation for condition-based monitoring in predictive maintenance. In order to achieve this objective, it is necessary to analyse and integrate physical parameters that are crucial for wave propagation into the model. This will significantly improve transmission reliability and efficiency in industrial applications.
The results of this research will be of benefit to both the research community and industrial stakeholders as more reliable indoor wireless communication systems are developed.
