Brian Gannon has been a professor of IT Management and Governance in the IU distance learning program since 2023. He teaches a variety of interdisciplinary courses on technology, business and law.
Brian holds a degree in Engineering from Trinity College, Dublin and a PhD in Information Systems from the University of London. His legal qualifications include a General Diploma in Law (GDL) from City University, London and a Master in Law (LLM) degree from the London School of Economics. Brian was called to the Bar of England and Wales at Gray's Inn in 2020.
Brian has a successful record of work as an IT practitioner, and as a founder of digital technology companies. He started his career at Shell Oil and moved to Arthur Andersen (now Accenture) where he managed large IT projects for retail and investment banks. He then co-founded the DMW Group, a technology advisory firm, and subsequently worked in senior roles at Standard Chartered Bank (IT strategy), Allied Irish Banks (Chief Information Officer) and Capgemini (Vice President). Most recently, he was an executive director at Kainos Group plc, a digital technology firm, where he helped lead the company to a successful IPO on the London Stock Exchange.
Brian's research focuses on the intersection between business, law and digital technology, particularly on matters concerning enterprise information systems, cyberlaw and IT contracts. You can link to Brian’s personal website here.
